What is the difference between coaching and therapy? The coach’s work is not to psychoanalyze or provide therapy, but to help the individual accomplish goals. It is an action oriented profession. It’s forward moving and future focused. Therapy, on the other hand, deals with healing pain, and dysfunctional conflict within an individual. The focus is often on resolving difficulties arising from the past which hamper the individual’s success in the present. The emphasis in a coaching relationship is on action, accountability and follow through. Back to top
